What To Expect

A Change of Place, A Change of Self

Healing begins the moment you step out of the environment that shaped your imbalances. Travel has the power to interrupt the habitual patterns — mental, emotional, and physical — that contribute to disease.

By relocating yourself to a serene, natural setting in tropical Kerala, surrounded by healing traditions, nourishing food, and an uplifting community, you create space for a deep reset. In this retreat, the shift of environment plays a crucial role:

You step out of daily stressors and unconscious routines

You allow your nervous system to soften and recalibrate

You open to new, life-supporting habits — in rhythm with nature, the sun, and your true self

And all this in the context of the new year, moving from one place in time to another, where the energetics of a fresh start are all in your favour. Supported by the timeless healing of ayurvedic medicine, the specialised skill of experienced doctors and the practice of skilled therapists, there is no better environment in which to succeed.

So this is a conscious leap toward your renewed self. The clarity, energy, and inspiration you cultivate here will follow you home, supporting you on the path of transformation.

Let this 3-fold journey to cleanse, learn and celebrate be your launchpad into 2027.

The Retreat Experience

The retreat experience is a 3-fold journey: Cleanse – Learn – Celebrate

A bespoke retreat program will be recommended for you, consisting of targeted daily treatments, herbal tonics and therapies. There will also be daily yoga and meditation sessions, breaks for meals and juices, specialised workshops about Ayurveda, and an enriching cultural programme.

Cleanse

Participants will each be assigned their own Ayurvedic doctor. You are the expert on your body – feel heard and deeply understood in private consultations with your personal doctor. Ayurvedic techniques are used to diagnose any physical, mental and emotional imbalances, as well as discuss your own wellness goals along with any health issues you may want to address, to restore a state of natural equilibrium, bringing vibrancy, clarity and serenity.

Learn

The group is supported by two UK-based Ayurvedic experts, Dmitry and Karen, who will travel with you and be there to host your stay at Pranavam. Bringing their own specialisms in Ayurvedic Yoga and Ayurvedic Cookery and Diet, Dmitry and Karen will run their own workshops alongside Pranavam’s excellent team, as well as being your primary point of contact and assistance during the retreat. Kiranjot joins us as a guest teacher on the retreat, supporting with morning yoga classes alongside Dmitry.

Celebrate

Have all your needs met within the retreat centre, from accommodation to treatments, consultations, food, along with plenty of breathing space to relax, unwind and enjoy cultural performances and outings. Enjoy the sights and sounds of southern India in outings and activities in the local area, as well as revelling in cultural performances of traditional music and dance at the centre.

Leave utterly replenished and equipped with the tools to facilitate your own ongoing health and wellness using the basic guidelines of Ayurveda, easily applied and intuitive in nature.

Learn more about Panchakarma in this video from last year’s Sadhama Ayurveda Retreat in Kerala at an alternative centre.

Who is This Retreat For?

A Panchakarma cleanse isn’t just for when you’re feeling unwell — it’s for anyone ready to reset, heal, return to balance, and feel strong again.

Here are some indications you need Panchakarma:

  • Persistent digestive issues: indigestion, bloating, constipation, or loss of appetite
  • Chronic fatigue or low energy, even with adequate rest
  • Stress, anxiety, or emotional imbalances that affect your well-being
  • Skin conditions such as acne, eczema, or psoriasis
  • Weight fluctuations and metabolic imbalances (trouble losing or gaining weight)
  • Joint and muscle pain, including arthritis or stiffness
  • Weakened immunity, frequent colds, or recurring illnesses
  • Sleep issues: insomnia or poor-quality sleep that leaves you drained
  • Respiratory concerns: allergies, asthma, or chronic sinus congestion

If any of these sound familiar, Panchakarma offers a holistic path back to your natural vitality. Let your body and mind remember what balance feels like.

Ayurveda is a system of medicine and healing that has persisted for thousands of years, with tried and tested methodologies that really work. Highly effective, yet neatly designed to work gently in harmony with your body’s own unique systems of cleansing and detoxification, Ayurveda is the power-up boost that allows us to reconnect with a whole, healed self.

The wide range of Ayurvedic treatments have been used for thousands of years to treat and cure everything from menopause symptoms to sporting injuries, anxiety to arthritis, headaches to heart disease, insomnia to obesity. Panchakarma and Ayurveda provide proven, reliable and effective treatment options for deep systemic conditions; relief from everyday health niggles; as well as simply providing a general health reset.

Feel utterly safe, welcome, and cared for – whether you have chronic health issues you are looking to resolve, unhealthy habit patterns you need to reset, or you simply need a wellbeing tune-up – this is the ideal retreat for you.

Unleash a state of well-being unlike anything you have felt before as we heal from the cellular level, up and out from the microcosmic to the macrocosmic.

🔱 The 3-Fold Journey

Part One: Cleanse

1. Authentic Panchakarma Cleanse
Panchakarma goes beyond surface cleansing — it purifies the body at a cellular level, balances the doshas, and activates your natural capacity for healing and regeneration.

  • All necessary Ayurvedic herbal formulations, medicated oils, herbs, and digestive tonics for panchakarma therapies are included.
  • Two therapy sessions a day are included.

Based on your private consultation, our team of doctors will formulate a customised treatment plan comprising Panchakarma therapies, traditional Kerala Ayurvedic rejuvenation procedures, and condition-specific therapeutic interventions. The treatment regimen typically includes 2 – 4 distinct therapy sessions per day, complemented by internally administered Ayurvedic herbal formulations.

The word Panchakarma literally means “five actions”—referring to five therapeutic treatments designed to cleanse the body of toxins (or ama) and restore balance. Your bespoke course of rejuvenation will include daily treatments such as oil massage, steam therapy, herbal tonics and a tailored eating plan; along with yoga, meditation, mindfulness practices and plenty of time for rest and relaxation.

Panchakarma therapies are mostly centred around different types of massage, directed at different points in the body which relate directly and uniquely to your own health and healing plan.

This may be something like Shirodha, where warm oil is ritually poured across the third eye to calm and relax the nervous system. It could be the application of hot, ghee-soaked, herb compresses to ease and lubricate the joints. It could be a rigorous massage of exfoliating powders to invigorate the body and stimulate vital organs.

The medicated oils, scrubs, salves, and powders, as well as the curative methods through which they are applied, are prescribed by your onsite doctor based on your consultations with them, your individual treatment plan, and your own wellness goals.

The 3-Fold Journey

Part Two: Learn

2. Study Programme & Daily Wellness Practices

Go beyond the experience and deepen your understanding of Ayurveda.

  • Learn from renowned experts, including the founders of the centre and Sadhama
  • Explore yoga, diet, and Ayurvedic principles in both theory and practice
  • Discover marma (vital point) massage and holistic self-care tools

This is a rare opportunity to connect with a living lineage of ancient knowledge and bring it into your daily life.

Discover how to care for and maintain your health long after the retreat is over. Learn foundational principles of Ayurveda, including:

  • Dinacharya (daily rhythm)
  • Nutrition & lifestyle tips for your dosha
  • Remedies to make at home for common ailments
  • Optional daily Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation to support your cleanse
  • Culinary masterclasses on Ayurvedic cooking

This retreat is unique in the opportunity to engage with an optional study program while you are at the centre. Choose to spend your free time relaxing, or drop in to one of the daily specialist workshops.

Discover the art of personalised Ayurvedic Yoga with Dmitry Glazkov of Sadhama.

These inspiring and practical sessions will show you how to adapt your yoga practice to your unique Ayurvedic constitution (dosha), current state of balance, and individual needs. Learn which yoga practices, breathing techniques, and wellbeing tools are most supportive for your innate nature and how to use them to restore harmony, vitality, and resilience in everyday life.

Through guided practice, you will experience Hatha Yoga tailored to each of the three Ayurvedic doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—gaining a direct understanding of their distinct effects on body, mind, and energy. You will also learn how to assess key physical, mental, and emotional characteristics to identify which approaches are most beneficial for yourself and others.

Leave with a powerful new understanding of Ayurveda and Yoga, along with practical skills that will enable you to personalise your practice for greater wellbeing, balance, and transformation. This is a rare opportunity to learn how to apply the timeless wisdom of Ayurvedic Yoga in a way that is uniquely suited to your own constitution, level, and abilities.

Kiranjot will bring her inimitable touch to morning yoga classes, alternating with Dmitry. Specialising in Kundalini yoga. This accessible practice that Kiranjot teaches is perfect for the deep cleansing we undertake at the retreat. Tried and tested Yoga cleansing kriyas to support the Panchakarma detox.

Kiranjot works with kriyas of breath, movement, mantra and meditation to bring clarity of consciousness and help us to become more aligned and empowered with ourselves.

Karen from Sadhama will lead the group in culinary workshops. Learn how to choose and prepare foods that align with your unique Ayurvedic type and support your overall well-being.

Discover which foods help you thrive by addressing specific goals, such as improving digestion, managing weight, or boosting energy through personalised nutrition.

The extensively trained and knowledgeable team from Pranavam will share their own offerings in the fundamentals of Ayurveda, along with practical sessions in massage techniques, recipes for easy remedies and unravel the mysteries of using energy centres in the body for healing in marma – bodily vital points therapy.

What is Ayurveda Pancha Karma?

Using the tried and tested methodology of Ayurveda, a system of medicine and healing that has persisted for thousands of years, we determine a retreat program designed uniquely for you, your body and your wellbeing goals. Highly effective, yet neatly designed to work gently in harmony with your body’s own unique systems of cleansing and detoxification, Ayurveda is the power-up boost that allows us to reconnect with a whole, healed self.

Panchakarma — The Secret of Longevity

The word Panchakarma literally means “five actions”—referring to five therapeutic treatments designed to cleanse the body of accumulated toxins and waste and restore balance of the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha). Depending on your personal consultation with the centre’s doctors, you will be recommended a bespoke course of rejuvenation which includes daily treatments such as oil massage, steam therapy, herbal tonics and a tailored eating plan; along with yoga, meditation, mindfulness practices and plenty of time for rest and relaxation.

Ultimate Ayurvedic Detox: A Journey of Healing and Renewal in Kerala

Kozhikode, Kerala, India

The 3-Fold Journey Part Three

Part Three: Celebrate

3. Cultural Experiences, Exploration & Festive Celebration

Along with your therapeutic treatments, experience a rich immersion into the beauty of Kerala and Indian culture.

Enjoy the vibrant spirit of Kerala while nurturing a sense of joy, connection, and discovery. This retreat coincides with New Year’s Eve, widely and enthusiastically celebrated in Keralan communities. The retreat includes:

  • A festive cultural program including Great Indian Classical Dance performances
  • Boat trips on the gorgeous backwaters, trips to the beaches
  • Cultural experiences, excursions to local temples and shared activities
  • Time to explore, connect, and celebrate together

It’s important to feel part of the community around you, and experience the the culture for yourself when you are travelling. This is a heartwarming part of the retreat programme and a way to sense the roots of this ancient Vedic method of healing.

From feeling the waters of the Indian Ocean lap your feet, to the vibrant bustle of local markets, the culture of Kerala is unique, exciting and enlivening. A part of the country where spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, star anise and clove grow wild in the hills alongside cultivated tea, coffee and cacao, an abundance of life, colour and flavour is everywhere.

Music, dance and art form part of the rich fabric of life which we bring to the centre in celebrated performance. Hindu temples, Christian churches and Islamic mosques sit side by side in the palm lined streets, monkeys swing through pockets of jungle, and hundreds of ponderous rivers and tributaries flow through it all to the sea.

We weave this into our 14 day trip, so you live the sights, smells and flavours of Kerala alongside your panchakarma retreat.

The Venue: Pranavam Ayurveda

Pranavam Ayurveda is a dedicated centre for authentic Ayurvedic healing in Kozhikode, Kerala. They are committed to addressing the root cause of illness through classical principles and personalised care.

We’ve chosen Pranavam out of hundreds of contenders to host our Panchakarma retreats because we love their gentle, diagnosis-focused care, the exceptional quality of the modern, purpose-built centre, their excellent food and beautiful, calm location.

Pranavam specilises in:

  • Personalised Care – Every treatment plan is carefully designed after detailed consultation and diagnosis.

  • Led by Expert Dr. Sreejith – Founder and chief physician guiding treatments with decades of Ayurvedic clinical expertise.
  • Result Orientated Treatment – Focused therapies designed to address root causes and support lasting health outcomes.

Led by Dr. Sreejith and Dr. Diana Sreejith, the clinic combines traditional therapies, Panchakarma treatments, herbal medicines, and structured lifestyle guidance to create focused, result-oriented treatment plans. Each case is carefully evaluated to address root causes, reduce pain and inflammation, and restore long-term function. The focus remains on measurable improvement and sustainable recovery rather than temporary relief.

The centre is located on a quiet, private campus in village backstreets, next to the Cherupuzha river. It is a short walk to Manipuram village centre. The centre is surrounded by lush jungle, rolling green hills of biodiverse grasslands, and the call of tropical birds, with breathtaking views of the landscape at nearby Kappumala viewpoint.

The food provided at Pranavam Ayurveda is a wide range of Indian, Western and Ayurvedic food to suit all tastes. Fresh juices and wholesome vegetarian ingredients form the cornerstone of nourishing your body in support of total rejuvenation.

South Indian and Keralan vegetarian food is vibrant cuisine defined by the generous use of rice, fresh coconut, curry leaves, and local spices. Centred on healthy and fresh ingredients, it features diverse coconut milk-based stews, dry vegetable stir-fries (thoran), and tangy yoghurt-based curries (pachadi)Paneer cheese is often used in curries. Breads and savoury pancakes like chapatiparathadosa and uttapam form key parts of each meal, as well as steamed rice batters such as idli and puttu.

Food during the retreat will be mildly spiced with little to no chilli, to facilitate easy, gentle digestion. Kitchari, a slow-cooked, savoury rice and lentil porridge, will be offered during days when the body is in the process of deep detoxification.

Ayurveda views food as both nourishment and a primary tool for self-healing, essential for balancing the mind, body, and spirit. These fundamentals will be explained in workshops over the retreat, giving you the tools you need to choose a diet that perfectly suits your unique body and digestive fire.

This approach blends flavourful ingredients with health benefits, creating meals that satisfy your senses while enhancing your vitality with culinary richness and balance. It is also a highly intuitive way of eating, which can be applied through learning a few basic premises.

You will be offered the opportunity to have a personal consultation with our ayurvedic dietary expert, who will make specific recommendations for your food choices and meals on the retreat to optimise your progress.

Learn how to recognise a palette of sattvic ingredients to ensure that your food supports your yoga, meditation, and cleansing practices, leaving you feeling nourished, balanced and strong. Move beyond calories and macronutrients to embrace food as a tool for creating harmony, balance, and optimal health.

Understand how to adapt your diet according to seasonal changes and personal needs, ensuring your body receives the right nourishment at the right time through seasonal and adaptive choices.
